_ 165 _ After I arrived in this city I was received in a manner which caused me to weep many tears to the very foot of my white beard on seeing that so many honours and favours in addition to those which over so many years past have been paid me by the Portuguese, subjects of my King and Lord of the Heavens, came to Him through the angels in return for the acts and honours which I am receiving in the absence of his Highness. As soon as I arrived, within a short time, the Governor gave me a foist, which I sent to Ormuz to fetch my son, Rais Nar-al Din, who was in the service of High Highness helping to capture EI Kattiff, in order to [re-]build a fortress there, which formerly belonged to the King of Ormuz, and through which all the caravans from Mecca used to come. It was lost while I was in Portugal, and to this day we do not know what happened there. As soon as my son comes here, he will immediately go abroad in order to go and serve Your Highness. I commend him to you, Sir, as I do to my lord and King. He is excellent a price as I dare to name as long as live, and I praise his high qualities. From Ormuz I shall write to His Highness news of the place and of the service of the King, our lord, for from here I cannot do so because I have not received any.
