The Portuguese in the Sea of Oman

_ 222 _ follows: he fled from the Kingdom of Achin fearing that he would be killed by the Adil Khan and took refuge in Cambay, where he was favoured and honoured by the King of Cambay. Later there was a dispute between the Adil Khan, Ased Khan and Nizam Malik(A), and the latter two took the opposite side to the Adil Khan and came to an agreement with D Garcia de Castro, the then Captain of this city that he should send them to Cambay to fetch this [Meale] Khan and make him King; for the whole people were asking for this, and for him to come as of right because of the evil conduct, tyranny and cruelty of the Adil Khan. This seemed right to D Garcia(B), and he, in the service great Lord of the lands of Balaghat, who claimed that the youngest son, [Meale] Khan was the legitimate heir of the deceased. Having reached an agreement with the reigning Adil Khan, Ased Khan sent the little [Meale] Khan to the Kingdom of Cambay to save him from his brother's vengeance and with the secret intention of later restoring him to the throne. (B) According to Gaspar Correia Ased Khan obtained what he wanted from the Captain by means of many bribes and presents and with the help of Rui Gonçalves de Caminha, a casado of Goa and a close friend of Ased Khan.
