Alvaro de Castro, Muscat, on the 15th of December 1546, mentioning his gifts:(88) Sir, I am not writing to you very often, and in this I am doing you no service; this may annoy you, and likewise the news which those leaving here will be giving you. I am being severely delayed in what I wish to do. This year I brought a horse from Kalhat(A) which I intended to send to you, because it showed signs of being a good one, but afterwards it turned out not to be so, and I did not send it to you. Gil Vaz is bringing a turquoise for you(B), and a sword (A) Kalhat on the coast of Arabia. (B) The turquoises of the Persian Gulf were renowned.
