_ 85 _ Similarly, according to the transcript, the kings of Rishahr used to have a macarrias of nineteen leagues thirty-two azars, they and their ambassadors and the officials of their household. When Martin Afonso de Melo was Captain of Ormuz, Shah Tahmasp sent soldiers to attack this King, and he was seized with his wives and children and kinsmen, and they were all killed in the court of Shah Tahmasp on his order because it was said they had rebelled against him. When he was attacked by the soldiers, the captain sent him aid, but from that time until the present there had been no King in Rishahr. Sometimes, a servant of the Shah is in charge and sometimes a servant of the Mir Adashir, but they have no official residence or establishment, or any dealings or understanding with us because no caravan or anything else of interest to Ormuz passes through the land. The King of Makran, his ambassadors and officials of his household receive six leagues ninety-five azars of macarrias because he is lord of the Nadhaki and needs encouragement to favor the affairs of Ormuz, which he has done: he also does the contrary by tolerating the Nodhaki and enabling them to sail to rob in the Strait of Ormuz, in which robbery he has a share.
