_ 232 _ In the same year (1547) Dom Manuel de Lima sent a letter to the Governor of Ormuz, on the 3rd of December 1547, mentioning that the men of Shah Tahmasp and the Arabs of Algiers had attacked the Turks:(60) Sir. After I had written to Your Lordship, two terradas arrived from Basra, and Domingos Barbudo wrote to me by them; he was getting ready to come here, and he wrote to me that Shah Tahmasp’s men and the men of [Gizar] had attacked two fortresses which had been taken by the Turk. They took one of them, which was not very strong but were unable to take the other one, which is called [Zequia]. The men of [Gizar], from whom supplies used to come to Basra, are allowing none through. I think that if a letter is sent to the men of [Gizar], together with Shah Tahmasp’s (60) Document no. and reference.
