My opinion from here about those Turks in Basra is that, even if Your Lordship does not request me from there to do so, Your Lordship should permit a few terradas, as best appears to you, to go from here to Basra, for this is the main stratagem for their destruction. In this way they will not make themselves stronger than they were, and they will not dare make their evil intentions and actions evident. In the meantime, I can correspond with Shah Tahmasp, if that appears appropriate to Your Lordship, with his captains and with Rishahr. I have received messages from there and I have sent them others. I can also correspond with the people of [Gizar], with whom the Turks frequently have battles, and who are their neighbours. I can also correspond with the former King of Basra, although he is not in power, but he is always willing to act against the Turks. When all these matters have been coordinated and put in place, if Your Lordship sends a large fleet with men from there [India] and they attack Basra unexpectedly, it is possible that with God’s help they can be defeated.
