_ 290 _ for Kishm, taking with you the King of Kishm; you are to give him possession of the city, and from there you are to return to India. If the news of the Turks is uncertain and you cannot find out the truth about the number and kind of ships making for Aden, you are to go directly to the Canacani Islands, and as soon as you are within sight of them you are to despatch two light vessels which are to explore and take possession of them; and as you approach the port you are to send two caturs and as many oarsmen as you have in the direction of Aden to see if there is a fleet close to the port and city, and you are to go after them. You are not to pass the small castle which lies about twenty-five leagues from the city, and there you are to await the caturs, being very careful to watch and guard the sea until they come; for if it is the case that they are lost, which God forbid, the Turks might come upon you by surprise and capture you without warning. The remedy for this is to keep four ships at a distance from your fleet, in sight of one another day and night, which, if they become aware of a fleet, will warn you, so that you can leave the port where you are and put to sea in order to do and perform as is appropriate having regard to the power and force attacking you.
