_ 297 _ me to accept the handing over of the city on behalf of the King, our Lord; and since I have confidence that in this and in the rest that he is entrusted with he will serve the King, our Lord, as his service demands, it is right and it pleases me that the above named should have and enjoy the said Captaincy which I hereby give into his charge all the jurisdiction and authority exercised by the captains of our said Lord in his fortresses in India. I hereby charge all nobles and lascars who accompany him to obey him and regard him as their captain and to carry out his orders in every particular, without doubt or reservation.
