The Portuguese in the Sea of Oman

_ 340 _ south-westward course but, sometime, westward or west by south-west or south-south-west. Route Sunday 4th March. There was a gentle north-westerly wind. We steered west by south-west. At one o’clock in the afternoon, the northerly wind became light and gentle and remained until nightfall. We steered west by south-west. All this day I took sightings of the four ... because we were waiting for three foists, which were lagging far behind. At night, the wind turned north and north-north-westerly and cold, so we were able to use all the sails. We steered our course west by south-west. Route Monday 5th March. There was a light north-north- easterly wind. We steered west by south-west as long as the foists could manage it. In the morning, I found that Pero Preto’s catur was missing. I do not know why, because all night I had sightings of the three…..At night, at the beginning of the first watch, the wind became a cold north-easterly. We steered west by south-west until about midnight when the wind became lighter and then stayed gentle.
