_ 73 _ In the same year (1547) Afonso sent Andre Curtes with a letter to the Governor, Dom João de Castro of Ormuz on the 16th of July 1547, narrating his tragedy between Quriyat and Muscat:(18) My Lord, After Your Lordship won the battle of Diu, praise be almighty God. I came to Goa, although I was very ill. While Dom Manuel de Lima was Captain of Diu, he wrote to me that Lordship had granted me the honour of the position of Alcaide-Mor in Diu. I bless Your Lordship for having such a good opinion of me as to do me that honour. Since I was very ill, I was not able to return to Diu to serve Your Lordship. As Our Lord ordered Dom Manuel de Lima to go to Ormuz as Captain, as well as to Goa, he told me to write to Your Lordship that he was bringing me with him to serve as Alcaide-Mor in Ormuz, in accordance with (18) Document no. and reference.
