_ 83 _ In the same year (1547) Reis Sharaf al-Din sent a letter to the Governor of India, Ormuz, on the 17th of July 1547, mentioning his activities since his returned from Portugal:(19) Sir, I have received so many favours from Your Lordship since I left Portugal without having until now the means to serve you except by writing to you and giving you an account of myself. I thought it right not to be ungrateful, because in addition to the duties of my office, which oblige me to send you a report of this your country, I have a further obligation to do so, as I say, and to serve you as long as life lasts. Thanks be to Our Lord, I reached Ormuz safely on 14 May, together with D.Manuel de Lima, Captain of this city, and the other ships with which we sailed, except for one (19) Document no. and reference.
