_ 97 _ In the same year (1547) Dom Manuel de Lima sent a letter to the Governor of India in Ormuz on the 23rd of July 1547, informing him of the control of Reis Sharaf and his son Nur al-Din over the Kingdom of Ormuz, and that all the coast of the Arab countries from Qalhat to Bahrain belong to them:(22) I know that I should give Your Lordship a report on this fortress because it is mandatory, but I can say no more about it than that it is very good and strong since I have such bad neighbours at the door. All the same, I shall tell Your Lordship that the best part of this fortress was built by three or four captains, all of whom wanted to complete the work they had started; and so I think it very necessary.
