In Ormuz, a city which is in the Straits of Persia, the land of the great Sophy, there is one of our priests, an extremely virtuous, learned, fervent man with a pleasing disposition. Those who come from there, give wonderful reports about the progress that he is making among the Portuguese as well as among the local people. He is so successful that they say he is called the holy prophet, and that is how we know him. This priest is very earnest when preaching and is a very devout spirit. It is reported that he always has great debates with the Moor’s and the Jews.
