_ 146 _ monarchy, because of men’s arrogance as he is doing now, according to what Your Lordship has written to me(A). I am told that the monarchy of the Persians(B) has been converted, but tomorrow nothing will remain, since the Shah is transforming human nature into divine(C) . This, being impossible, will return to the nothingness it was originally because if we are created by God to be something only by acting, without Him what more shall we be than we were before? Your Lordship should immediately take heart and gain the will of the one who has power overall, without whom it is impossible to move a straw in this world. In good times, He rules and in bad times He causes pain, according to what Isaiah says(D). He allows the evil of the guilt of sin for the fulfillment of His justice. Everything is recorded before Him in His repository and by divine love. What more is there to say? What was, and what was, was necessary so (A) We read nothing of this matter in this letter (doc. 21). It is omitted in that very same place, or it can be read in another lost letter (cf. doc. 13a).
