We have a college there with an income of eight hundred cruzados or more(B), but there is also a shortage of people to receive there. This money [182r] is spent on the Christians who are converted(C). Four leagues from there, in the city of Thana(D), where we have one of the best sites in India, very spacious, with many ponds and trees. A church has now been set up dedicated to the protection of the Mother of God, because we have hopes that before long a college will be built for the local children, who are to be supported with income from Bassein.
