_ 357 _ affair being in this wise, before the term of government was over, the Governor had an intimation that the Rumes were not coming, and this owing to the fact that whilst the term lasted there was war with the King of Calicut respecting the King of Cochin, and in respect to the pepper with Amrique de Souza Chichorro who was Captain there, and with Manuel de Souza de Sepulveda who went from Goa there in the winter, sent with powers to relieve, and as soon as the fleet the Governor was making was ready he went into it and calling at some of the places of the coast of Malabar.
