A few days later he tried to justify himself by proclaiming and writing from the Kingdom of Lar in Persia that I was a sorcerer, telling and advising the people that they should avoid me; since I produced the sorcery in the handbell with which I summoned the children to catechism, as they from that time onwards showed by covering their ears and fleeing when they heard me ringing the bell through the streets.
