As the Lord wishes that we seek every convenient means to achieve the outcome we intend, which is that of bringing the souls of both Christians and heathens to their true Shepherd, our whole plan is to organize the land with resources, by means of which we can attain the abovementioned goal. During the period when this King of Ormuz was drawn to Christianity, I gave instructions to have the alcoran sealed off. This is a tall tower from which they call out many times a day and preach their false Mohammedan religion . It not only encouraged them to reinforce their deep-rooted error, but also hardened and unsettled those who had become Christians. The said King also ordered it to be closed with a proclamation that no one there should call again for Mohammed. The aim that I had in mind in this, like that of Saint Sebastian, was not to force them to become Christians(A), because this [124v] did not prevent their formal ceremonies, which they performed when and how they wanted.
