_ 58 _ In the same year (1549) The priest Gaspar Barzio sent a letter to the Jesuits residing in India and Europe, Ormuz, on the 1st of December 1549, in which he gave a detailed explanation of Ormuz, Persia and the Turks:(9) I have not sufficient time, paper, ink or life, to write in detail of the things that happen here concerning our Society, praise be to Christ, who shows Himself in all things to be the defender of the flock of His Society. Elsewhere my dear brothers and fathers write at length and in detail, as each one of those who are scattered among the heathen is commanded to do by our father Francis.
