Dearly beloved Fathers and Brothers of the most excellent Society of Jesus, do not be content with the visible world, which is temporal, but with the invisible, which possesses an eternal value(A). This is confirmed. It is indeed pointless to spread a net in full view of the birds(B), though not altogether. That would be madness; such an insignificant, petty act to teach those whose disciple I cannot be. We are brothers, you united with me, so if anyone notices anything contrary to fraternal charity, do not neglect to subject me to your humbling correction. There would not be enough time, paper, ink or life for me to write to each one of you about the things that happen here in our society, praise be Christ, (whose justice is like the great deep(C), who shows himself in everything to be the protector of the sheep of His Congregation.
