55 These days the world is awash with blood and teeming with venom, hatred and injustice. But we must meet one another, in the same way as the Qur’an enjoined us to do: ‘Say: “O People of the Book! come to common terms as between us and you: That we worship none but Allah.” And if we cannot achieve this, then let us try: O Jesus, The word of God, Descend on us from above, for our world is filled with injustice and blood. Descend on us, for we love you and we shall follow your example. Descend on us and fill the world with peace. Descend. Peace be upon you, the day you were born, the day you die and the day you are resurrected. Now let me say a word to the graduates gathered today along with their parents. It is the parents whom we should congratulate first for the great role they have played in taking their children by the hand and bringing them to this happy result. Then, congratulations to the graduates, coupled with our hopes and prayers that your future may be brighter, for it is you who should claim your rightful place in this sometimes .stormy world. You have reached the crossroads, and you have to choose the path of righteousness or fall into the abyss of Satan. Taking the righteous road, however, is not always easy. It is stormy and can overturn those without roots. But those
