TALE OF A CITY 64 In Sharjah, Sheikh Sultan bin Saqr al-Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, donated 13 Egyptian pounds to aid the Palestinians. The Sharjah Donation Commission collected for the same cause 715 Rupees as follows: - 300 Rupees: Sheikh Sultan bin Saqr al-Qasimi; - 50 Rupees: Sheikh Khalid bin Sultan, the son of Sheikh Sultan bin Saqr al-Qasimi; - 40 Rupees: Mr Hamad bin Abdulrahman al-Midfa’ and Mr Muhammad bin Jasim al-Midfa’; - 38 Rupees: an anonymous benefactor; - 25 Rupees: Mr Abdullah bin Sheikh Abdulrahman al-Faris; - 23 Rupees: Mr Mubarak Saif al-Nakhi, the poet; - 20 Rupees: Mr Muhammad bin Saeed bin Mahmoud, Mr Hasan bin Abdulrahman al-Midfa’ and Mr Eissa Bihzad; - 10Rupees:Mr IbrahimbinMuhammad al-Midfa’,MrMuhammad bin Ali Abu Ruhaimah, Mr Ibrahim bin Salim bin Mazrou’, Mr Mubarak bin Muhammad al-Aqili, Mr Muhammad bin Khalfan Bu Khatir, Mr Abdullah bin Ali bin Mahmoud, Mr Ibn Shuhar, and Mr Khudair bin Abbas; - 5 Rupees: Mr Abdullah bin Salih al-Mutawwa’, Mr Abdullah bin Ali Sanad, Mr Sultan bin abdulkarim, Mr Khalifah bin Majid, Mr Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman bin Saif and Mr Muhammad bin Hasan bin Majid; - 4 Rupees: Mr Ahmed bin Ali binMahmoud, Mr Alsayyid Abdullah and Mr Salih bin Hasan Bihzad; - 2 Rupees: Mr Abdulaziz bin Abdullah, Mr Sultan bin Khamis and Mr Salim bin Muhammad; and - 1 Rupee: an anonymous benefactor. All totalling 715 Rupees. The poet, Mubarak bin Saif al-Nakhi, also sent a poem to Muhammad Ali al-Tahir, founder of the Palestinian newspaper al-Shabab which was mainly concerned with exposing the British intentions against Palestine.
