After promising that I would not show it to any one or disclose his name or that of his relative he brought it to me and I took a copy of it. I , however, asked him to keep it with me for few days after which I will return it to him. As he has just brought to me I took a copy of it and enclose copies of the poems A and B made by ‘Abdul Aziz and C which is believed to be made by the Shaikh. C was composed to contradict A. 3. On the wall of the shop of a British subject named Dhamanmal Jagoomal of Sharjah the following words were written “Long LiveGermany, downwithBritain”. these and others on the houses of British subjects were wiped out by them. 4. It is clear evidence that the Shaikh and his men are taking misadvantage of their position and acting behind the scene in an anti-British campaign.” 4 On 5 July 1940, the Political Agent, Bahrain,5 the Baiulus, wrote a letter to Sheikh Sultan bin Saqr, Ruler of Sharjah, in which he said the following: “ No.c /583-28/10 Dated the 25th July 1940 Shaikh Sultan bin Saqr, Ruler of Sharjah After Compliments, I regret to have to inform you my friend that I have recently heard reports from various sources to the effect that anti-British and a pro-Nazi he propaganda is being spread in Sharjah. Apart from the fact that the German radio news is heard in your on Majlis, it is a stated that sentences have been chalked on the walls in the town of Sharjah such as «Long Live Hitler» ,»Long Live Germany», «Down with Britain» and «Right is with Germany». Anti-British poems have been composed and ill-disposed persons are trying tomake the people of Sharjah believe that Germany will be victorious over British. It is very reliable reports that the person who is chiefly responsible for this kind of propaganda is your secretary, Abdullah bin Faris. The Residency Agent has informed me that he has brought this fact to your notice but apparently you have so far taken no action to punish this man for his disloyal acts. 2.
