Tale of A City - Volume II

TALE OF A CITY 90 Sheikh Sultan also enclosed a written testimony dated 17 Jumada al-Akhirah 1359 AH signed by the Sharjah Notables and head merchants to the effect that Abdullah bin Faris was pro-Britain and its King, and worked for furthering the British cause. The testimony read as follows: “ We the undersigned solemnly bear witness by God and definitely affirm that Abdullah bin Faris , the secretary of Shaikh Sultan bin Saqr, the Ruler of Sharjah, is the greatest supporter of His Majesty’s Government and one of the most energetic callers for the support of their cause and is an enemy of their enemies openly and privately. We have neither heard from, nor about, him anything which purports to be against His Majesty’s Government. On the contrary, he supports their cause and encourages people to help in furthering their cause. Ever since we know him he is their sympathiser and is always opposed to those who sympathise with Germany or Italy regardless of what may be their position. It is especially more so since the commencement of the present war. This is all that we have always known about him. 1- Habib bin Hasan Al Hyderabadi ( seal) 2-Raidha Masih (seal) 3- For Abdulkadir Muhammad Abbas, ??
