Initiative of planting Khorfakkan Road mountains, and Jabal Al-Ruman in Kalba

On 15th of October, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, launched a qualitative environmental initiative represented in planting a number of mountains located on Sharjah-Khorfakkan Road with Fig, Emirati Fig, Myrtle and Boswellia carteri, that are commensurate with the prevailing nature of that region, and directed each mountain be named after the names of the trees planted there. 

On 28th of October, His Highness Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated the environmental initiative of planting Jabal Al-Ruman (Pomegranate Mountain) in the city of Kalba which comes as part of His Highness’s continuous efforts to conserve the environment in the mountainous areas and naming the mountains based on the trees planted on them.

The initiatives aim to preserve the environment, ensure its biodiversity, and revive some areas and planting them with varieties of trees and plants that are compatible with their natural components. His Highness's environmental initiatives have contributed to the preservation of a large number of endangered plants and animals, and their resettlement in their original natural habitats.
