His Highness inspects a number of development projects

Sultan Al Qasimi inaugurates the heritage area in Khorfakkan

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah inaugurated on Sunday morning the heritage area in Khorfakkan.

His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah inspected Al Wadi Water Canal, where he watched the Shoosh race shows, traditional marine sports ,that were held on the occasion of the inauguration. The canal, which is 700 meters long and 5 meters wide, is one of the most prominent tourist facilities with its recreational activities, providing visitors with the opportunity to explore the area of Al Wadi Water Canal.

Then, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah inspected Al-Rayaheen motel, which represents a group of old houses in the heritage area, where they will be restored while preserving their archaeological features.

His Highness was briefed on the upcoming stages of implementing the hostel, the proposed designs, and the most prominent services that will be provided to the guests.

During the tour, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah viewed Bait Al Shabab, which represents one of the old houses in the heritage area, dating back to the fifties of the last century.

His Highness then toured the old market of Khorfakkan "Eastern Market", which has been restored and supplied with many shops and various commercial activities, to become an attractive tourism and entertainment destination for all visitors and residents of Khorfakkan. After that, His Highness listened to an explanation about the stages that have been accomplished in the market, as well as the turnout rate of visitors from all parts of the market.

His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah inspected the Old Souq Museum, the "Crafts Museum", which is a cultural and heritage place that includes many sections devoted to showcasing and explaining ancient arts and crafts.

His Highness was also briefed of the plans for the restoration project of Hosn Al-Mansour, which is considered one of the important archaeological forts in Khorfakkan. The restoration will include the entrance to the fort, the tower, the rooms, the inner courtyard and all parts of the Hosn Al-Mansour.
