His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, directed the Department of Culture to organise periodic poetry gatherings in Africa.

The initiative of the Ruler of Sharjah is due to his care for the Arabic language and literature. After the Sharjah Forum for Young Poets, the Poetry Houses initiative, and the Sharjah Award for Arab Creativity, the department will start implementing the second phase of this initiative starting next June.
