His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, on Wednesday, has inaugurated the Arab Academy for Science Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), new branch in Emirate of Sharjah, located at the city of Khorfakkan.

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has confirmed the joint cooperation between Sharjah and Arab Academy for Science Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), that began from four decades during the eighties of the last century. A relationship that resulted in the establishment of the academy’s Khorfakkan branch.

This came during His Highness Ruler of Sharjah’s speech, in the presence Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, at the opening of the Arab Academy for Science Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), new branch in the Emirate of Sharjah, located in Khorfakkan.

His Highness announced that the opening of the Arab Academy for Science Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), new branch came about as part of a long withstanding relationship between Sharjah and the academy, in which plans with the leadership of the academy led to the idea of opening a new branch in the Emirate of Sharjah. The new branch will provide programs and trainings in the fields of international maritime transport technology and logistics, a characteristic that distinguishes the academy. The compatibility in the visions and objectives between Sharjah and the academy paved the path to the establishment of the branch in the port of Khorfakkan.

His Highness Ruler of Sharjah has pointed out that a third of the first batch of students in the new branch of the academy in Khorfakkan, are female students who come from the eastern region of the Emirate of Sharjah, maintaining that the students are distinguished academically and are able to apply to other universities and colleges in Sharjah and outside it, but chose to be part of Arab Academy for Science Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) in Khorfakkan.

In support of the students of the Arab Academy for Science Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) in Khorfakkan, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah announced the provision of a specialised training ship that will arrive at the academy in the coming period, to aid in the students education and training.
