Sultan announces 1st lexical editing of Arabic Language Dictionary Historical Corpus

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah attended the honouring ceremony of the winners of the third edition of ALECSO-Sharjah Award for Language and Lexical Studies, and the opening ceremony of the new headquarters of the Educational Center of the Arabic Language for the Gulf States in Sharjah.

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah announced the launch of the first lexical editing of Arabic Language Dictionary Historical Corpus, that is being accomplished by more than three hundred of the most promising and dedicated scientists, professors and researchers throughout the Arab world.

During the ceremony, His Highness promised that during the coming year, several parts of the Arabic Language Dictionary Historical Corpus will be launched.

This came during a speech delivered by the Ruler of Sharjah on Wednesday morning at the honouring ceremony of the winners of the third edition of ALECSO-Sharjah Award for Language and Lexical Studies, and the ceremony marking the opening of the new headquarters of the Educational Center of the Arabic Language for the Gulf States in Sharjah, as part of the celebration of the World Arabic Language Day.

During his speech, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah has highlighted the importance of preserving the history of the Arabic language, announcing that several parts of the Arabic Language Dictionary Historical Corpus will be launched next year. He has also praised the efforts of several Arab scientists, professors and researchers, stressing that the project is the Arab world's prestigious project.

Shed light on the beauty of the Arabic language, His Highness has lauded the linguistic system which is reflected by its values, civilisation, religion and history.

Believing that the present and future generations need to live in dignity, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah has underscored the significant efforts in establishing the (ALECSO-Sharjah), in coordination with the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organisation, aiming to ensure the fluency of the language among all the generations.

Congratulating the winners of the ALECSO-Sharjah Award for Language and Lexical Studies, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah has lauded the great efforts of the winners who contributed with their researches and studies to enrich the culture and science, stressing the supervising committee’s great role.

Commenting on the project of launching the Arabic Language Dictionary Historical Corpus, His Highness wished every success to all those who work on the project.
