His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, announced, on Monday, the allocation of a new area in Jabal Al Ashkel, near the Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled, for the development of a residential neighbourhood in Khorfakkan. The project will include hundreds of homes for citizens and will be named “Al Ashkel Neighbourhood”.
His Highness called on the people of Khorfakkan not to fear a shortage of residential land in the city, noting that there are currently 270 houses under construction, including 120 homes in Al Mudeife.
His Highness further revealed that a road will be paved in the area, leading to Al Rafisah, pointing out that the homes located on the mountain will differ in their features from other residences overlooking the sea.
In a phone interview on the programme Direct Line, broadcast on Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah urged the people of Khorfakkan not to worry about the depletion of residential land in the city. He noted that many believe housing in Al Harray area has been completely exhausted, announcing that there are 270 houses under construction in two groups, including 120 homes in Al Mudeife that have been received by the Department of Housing.
His Highness explained that these homes are considered critical housing, with each plot comprising two or three residential units.
His Highness also confirmed that the land allocated to holders of commercial licences is currently being handed over to the municipality, and that construction is expected to take approximately two years.
His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah also noted that similar projects, following the same regulations, are being implemented in the city of Kalba along the ring road, starting from Al Ghayl, then Al Saaf and Al Tareef. He pointed out that construction has begun in Al Dahiyat residential neighbourhood.
