His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, stressed that the media bears a great responsibility towards society, morals, Arabism and Islam, through the content which is transmitted by every means of media. His Highness added: "There is content that incites its followers to the moral decline, and another incites its followers to develop their culture and knowledge and instill the principles, values and ethics of Islam in them, which we desperately need, like our need for Arab unity and interdependence in the time in which we live, similar to the time of ignorance. His Highness stressed there is no survival from such situation only with Islam.

His Highness was speaking with newspaper editors and the national media at London Book Fair in its 46^th Session: stressing that the media, which broadcasts content urges and encourages its followers on the moral decline, must be criminalized, due to its bad influence on our Islamic and Arab societies. Our societies were not previously like it is now, because it is conservative. But, it might have been affected by confusion and lack of national and religious affiliations. All of such are factors led to the loss of existing values.
