His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and President of Al Qasimia University praised the great efforts being made to ensure the success and development of Al Qasimia University, which represents a unique international model that the Emirate of Sharjah offers to all students of Islamic sciences and Arabic language from around the world, to be a tributary of educational renaissance on which the emirate's strategy is based.

This came during His Highness’ chairing of the first meeting of the Board of Trustees of Al Qasimia University, which was held Thursday evening at the meeting hall of the Mosque of Sharjah.

Welcoming the members of the University's Board of Trustees, His Highness pointed out that the selection of the members of the Board came according to the needs of the university and the specialties of the members and their effectiveness, which varied according to the requirements of the university in the Islamic law, Sharia and the Holy Quran, along with academic, scientific, investment, administrative and other aspects. He indicated that the meticulous selection of members was to enable them to do the part assigned to them in the progress of the university and the completion of its development and academic plans according to the correct Islamic approach.

His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah affirmed that the Board of Trustees plays an important role in supporting, developing and implementing the University's strategy and plans and following up all its programmes and objectives. He also unveiled plans to continue the development of buildings in all faculties at the University, pointing out that the university buildings will be completed next year.

During the meeting, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah received a detailed report from Dr. Rashad Salem, the University's Chancellor, that included all the strategies and plans that have been completed relating to the study in various faculties, administrative aspects and students’ affairs.

His Highness was also briefed on the University's plans concerning all the scientific and educational requirements, student distributions and admission processes, and the future plans of the University over the coming period. The University attracts full scholarships to students from all over the world.

The Board of Trustees approved the graduation of the first batch, 160 graduates, of Qasimia University students who completed the bachelor's degree requirements including 78 males and 84 females.

The Board also approved the formation of subcommittees emanating from the Board, which included: the Executive Committee, the Permanent Committee for the Development of University Resources, the Academic Committee and the Finance Committee.
