His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah and President of Al Qasimia University, affirmed that the University is proceeding at a confident pace and in accordance with vision and clear mission to build and nurture its students according to moderate Islam, so that they return as ambassador to their countries to spread science and knowledge.
He pointed out that the support of the university is continuing, to prepare all its requirements to carry out its scientific and educational role including the necessary infrastructure, language centers and others, to help its students in different countries of the world.
This came in a speech delivered by His Highness on Friday evening at the University City Hall, at the graduation ceremony of 162 students, representing the first batch of Al Qasimia University graduates.
Addressing the graduates, His Highness said: "A few years ago, we stood here to announce opening of this beacon of knowledge, as a new addition to the human civilisation and thought that supports the innovative and the talented, and to prepare them in accordance with the requirements of the age and the openness to the other, and instill in them the tolerant teachings of Islam and enable them to carry the message of knowledge and to contribute to the advancement of their countries."
His Highness added: "Al Qasimia University thanks to God progressed steadily as we have planned for it. It was founded on the teachings of the holy Quran and the Arabic language. It attracted students from different nationalities from the continents of the world, and today we are proud of its five faculties, supported by the Language Centre, which takes care of rehabilitating students to master the language so that it won’t be an obstacle to the proper understanding of the teachings of the true religion, and we have been able, thanks to God, to provide the students with the necessary structure to seek knowledge that is consistent with the cultural vision of the University".
Congratulating the graduates, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah said: "We congratulate you and your parents. We congratulate ourselves. This is a demonstration of your ability to challenge the difficulties, and to be creative in the different walks of life. My fatherly advice to you is to continue to work hard to serve your respective communities and plant in them the love of science and knowledge. You should be aware that Islam is a religion of ethics and values that’s why it has been able to reach your ancestors in the east and the west.”
His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah affirmed that the university will stand by the graduates in their practical and scientific life, assuring the university’s incessant communication with its graduates. He hoped that the postgraduate’s programmes will be soon opened in the university.
He pointed out that these achievements would not have been made without the efforts of the sincere people in this university to whom we offer our sincere thanks and appreciation and ask God to reward them. He wished the graduates a prosperous future.
