2015 is a year of great achievements for Sharjah in Arab region and global level. It was a result of continuous efforts in past periods with the instructions of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, member of Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. His directions played a great role in promoting the achievements and pushing forward the wheel of development and construction.
This march of achievements has coroneted by deservingly granting Sharjah the title of Capital of Arab Tourism in 2015. This title is reckoned as another achievement of Sharjah in particular and UAE in general. It asserts the cultural status of Sharjah in Arab and Islamic world. Sharjah is the cultural and Islamic destination of Arab world and the unique and distinctive tourist attraction.

Ruler of Sharjah attends 13th edition of Sharjah Festival of Arabic Poetry
On January 5th, H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has attended the activities of the 13th Sharjah Festival of Arabic Poetry, with the participation of poets and critics of the Arab world who came to enrich the intellectual program of the festival, titled "necessity to poetry in the modern time."
Ruler of Sharjah issues admin resolution to establish news website -Sharjah 24
On January 5th, H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued administrative resolution, establishing the “Sharjah 24” news website. The website will be a reliable reference for daily news about events taking place in Sharjah and the UAE and to provide the accurate and reliable information in coordination with local and federal competent authorities.
Sultan directs to establish 1000 Poetry Houses in the Arab world
On January 7th, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, has called for setting up poetry houses in all Arab countries to be a forum for senior and young poets in these countries, to maintain their incessancy, to provide them with all kinds of assistance and support to be more productive and maintaining a proper thought and to be a center for the emission of poetry and literature.
Ruler of Sharjah issues admin resolution to establish SIFHAMS
On January 24th, H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah and President of University of Sharjah, has issued an administrative resolution No. (2) of 2015, regarding the establishment of Sharjah International Foundation for the History of Arab and Muslim Sciences (SIFHAMS). The foundation’s mission is to revive the Arab and Islamic heritage and to build a bridge across cultures.
Ruler of Sharjah issues admin resolution to establish Sharjah Centre for Space Sciences and Astronomy
On January 24th, H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah and President of University of Sharjah, has issued an administrative resolution No. (3) of 2015, on setting up the Sharjah Centre for Space Sciences and Astronomy. The center aims at developing and promoting education about astronomy and space sciences in the Arab World in general and the UAE in particular in order to be a destination for science, research, heritage, education and tourism for school students, university students, researchers and families of all ages.
Ruler of Sharjah issues Emiri decree setting up Sharjah Academic Office
On January 25th, H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued Emiri decree No. (2) of 2015, regarding the establishment of Sharjah Academic Office. Sultan Al Qasimi supports Sharjah Clubs with AED 30 million
On February 25th, H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has ordered an additional payment of AED30 million to the Sharjah Clubs, including AED 15 million to settle loans of Sharjah, Al Khaleej, Dibba Al Hisn and Al Dhaid clubs and AED 15 million to support the Emirate’s football teams.
Ruler of Sharjah witnesses signing of MoU between UOS and Cairo University
On March 2nd, H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah and President of University of Sharjah, has attended the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Universities of Sharjah and Cairo at the President of UOS' office. Among the clauses of the MoU, the two parties will develop academic curricula, research, joint cooperation, hold conferences and workshops, exchange expertise and publications as well as conduct student and teaching staff swap programmes.

Sultan approves the document of “Child Shield Protection”

Ruler of Sharjah issues Emiri decree on parental responsibility
On March 18th, H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued an Emiri Decree on the adoption of a convention on parental responsibility. Emiri Decree No. 41 of 2015 stipulates the adoption of the Decree which lists the custodial responsibility of parents towards their children in the event of divorce or separation.

Sultan opens Sharjah Centre for Space Sciences and Astronomy

The center has many attractions, most important of which are: Planetarium, Astronomy Exhibition, Space Exhibition, Exhibition of the Universe in the Holy Qur’an, Astronomical Observatory and a Cosmic Park for school students, university students, researchers and families of all ages.
The planetarium, for example, offers all visitors a host of informative programs presented in a unique and suspenseful atmosphere that simulates space to educate spectators about the origins of the universe. On September 30th, H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has attended the special ceremony held at Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre in Sharjah, to declare Sharjah as the first WHO Healthy City of the region.
The WHO report presented on the occasion confirmed that Sharjah, put health at the top of the development agenda of the emirate, had more than complied with the basic WHO criteria for being selected as the first Healthy City in the region under the new criteria of the world body.
The world body lauded the emirate for taking measures to improve the healthcare system and social welfare infrastructure, while embracing responsible environment policies and practices, such as waste management and sustainable development, in line with the WHO Healthy Cities Programme.

Ruler of Sharjah signs MoU with President of DRI in Nevada, US
On November 17th, H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and Dr. Stephen Wells, President of the Desert Research Institute (DRI), in the US State of Nevada, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding between Sharjah Research Academy and DRI.
The MoU aims to support desert research in the Emirate of Sharjah and the UAE, along with protecting natural and environmental life and increasing plant and livestock production under different desert conditions.
Sultan inaugurates Wasit Wetland Centre in Sharjah

Sultan announces Sharjah world's first baby-friendly city

Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has officially announced that Sharjah is a baby- friendly emirate and the world's first baby-friendly city after adopting four standards for being rating as baby-friendly. This is the first time such scheme has been widely utilized in the world.
Sultan opens AED12 million two nuclear engineering laboratories at University of Sharjah

Sultan attends the celebration of Educational Centre for Arabic Language
On December 15th, H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah and President of Al Qasimia University, has attended the celebration of the World Arabic Language Day at Al Qasimia University. The celebration is organized by the Educational Centre for Arabic Language in Gulf States in Sharjah in co-operation with the Ministry of Education and Al Qasimia University.
Sultan opens Al Noor Island on the Khalid Lagoon in Sharjah
On December 15th, H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has opened Al Nour Island on the Khalid Lagoon in Sharjah, in presence of H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.
One of the island's main attractions is the Butterfly House, a nature-inspired structure with an ornamentally perforated shadow roof, biomorphic exterior, and plant-covered walls, and hosts as many as 600 exotic butterflies extensively found across East and South East Asia. The island also boasts of an exhibition displaying unique butterflies gifted by Dr Shaikh Sultan. The space also houses a modern Noor Café providing organic food and drinks.

Sultan opens University of Sharjah's Al Dhaid campus
On December 17th, H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in attendance of H.H. Sultan opens the 1st edition of Sharjah Desert Theater Festival

Sultan honorary member of Arabic Language Academy
On December 24th, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, issued a decree on Thursday regarding appointment of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah as an honorary member of the Academy of Arabic Language in Cairo. The Academy’s Board unanimously agreed to the decision, and so did the Minister of Higher Education.
