Sultan Al Qasimi approves 564 scholarships for study in UOS and AUS

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has announced his approval of 564 scholarships from the Emiri Court for study in the University of Sharjah (UOS) and the American University of Sharjah (AUS).

The announcement is in addition to the 577 scholarships he approved two days ago for the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA), bringing to 1,141 the total scholarships already approved.

In a telephone conversation, through the Direct Line programme broadcast on Sharjah Radio and TV, Sheikh Sultan said: “We have speeded up approving scholarships for acceptance and enrolment as no delay in this issue is accepted. Thus, although their papers were not complete, applicants were approved so that they should not miss the scholarship opportunity.”

Sheikh Sultan explained the categories eligible for scholarships from the Emiri Court including category no. (1), which include the children of nationals who get low salaries and have not been able to attain the percentage required by Sewa for obtaining scholarships.

As many as 414 scholarships were given by the Emiri Court to this category out of the total scholarships of 564 which meant that category no. (1) accounted for the majority of scholarships, considering that families under this category need badly their members to be university graduates so that they can work and improve their conditions, he said.
