His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, delivered a speech at the inauguration of the new building of the Sharjah Police General Headquarters and Operations Center, where his directives were crystal clear.
With the wisdom and compassion of a venerable leader and father figure, His Highness spoke candidly to the leaders of Sharjah Police, emphasizing that, while many things in life can be compensated, honour and reputation cannot. He urged them to exercise meticulous care and consideration before arresting any member of society, so as to prevent harm to the innocent.
His Highness further advised security personnel to approach their duties with flexibility and understanding, despite the challenges they face. He encouraged them to overlook minor issues that might affect people's dignity and to adopt a compassionate approach toward those facing financial hardship—an issue His Highness is personally committed to addressing.
On the philosophy of penal institutions, His Highness clarified that imprisonment should not be about contempt or punishment, but about reform and rehabilitation. He emphasized that the role of security personnel is not to seek vengeance, but to guide individuals toward reform. He also stressed the importance of separating convicted individuals to prevent the corruption of those who remain virtuous.
The Ruler of Sharjah also showed unwavering concern for the vulnerable souls of addicts, enacting a clear and compassionate decision that he shared on live television. He stated that the rehabilitation of addicts would be handled by a dedicated centre supervised by the Sharjah Health Authority, given its capacity to provide the appropriate services for those seeking recovery. His Highness emphasized that this process would not fall under the jurisdiction of security institutions, stressing the importance of addressing such issues with both logic and compassion.
The Ruler of Sharjah did not leave the police building until he shared more good news regarding their salaries, approving the promotion of 4,138 military personnel within the emirate’s regular forces. Furthermore, he awarded the Sharjah Police Medal to 14 officers, representing the distinguished military cadres.
The most heartwarming surprise came the following morning, when radios across all patrols and field police personnel echoed the voice of their father, Sultan. With deep appreciation for their work, His Highness expressed his pride, saying: "My children, we call on you and wish you safety in this noble work that preserves human security in the United Arab Emirates."
Concerning the needs of citizens, His Highness directed the suburban councils to engage with the people, understand their needs, and ensure the provision of basic necessities, such as employment opportunities and fair salaries, enabling them to live amid rising prices.
This is the Sultan of compassion, love, and wisdom that we have known for over five decades. His Highness has always spoken with a single, clear voice, one that grows in beauty and significance with time. His words remain steadfast, with a consistent message rooted in the philosophy of security, stability, and a dignified life for all the people of his emirate and country.
