Literally "theater" is what marks human history, in thought, culture, arts, philosophy, sociology, and in politics and economics. In this sense, the theater stands in the place of nobility, revered, understood and absorbed by those who are firmly rooted in culture, and firm in thought, those who love life. Among them is His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. This man makes the theater at the heart of his cultural project in writing, theory, and revival project that he defends with all his might.
Certainly, it is the theater, and it is Sultan, the intellectual ruler, who raises the rank of the theater while being fully obsessed with the art of theater in word, action and theory through his words, initiatives, and continuous support and through his many festivals bearing the name of Sharjah in many Arab countries. Not only that, but through his prizes and favorite sayings in the theaters of the world: "we as human beings are dead, and the theater remains as long as life remains." How beautiful are these well-said words, how deep they are, and what stance it is. They are Sultan's words that resonate to brief life in a few words, as if they are the antidote that the world needs while it roars and messes with chaos to wakes up and taste the theater, and sip from his nectar the taste of life.
His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah realizes the importance of this great art while conquering it every time with a great initiative and a new word which puts an end to to our unconscious minds, purifies the conscience, purifies the soul, and injects into the veins of the being a new stream of love. As His Highness understands, theater is a real revolution in establishing tolerance between humans and the world. Now we are in dire need of a new theatrical movement that will restore the wave of acquaintance and brotherhood among peoples. These are only fragments of his highness’s understanding of theater based on the reality of his suffering, his coexistence, and his experience hand in hand with the pure transparency of this great man, this great intellectual who is dearly occupied by the world’s reluctance, conflicts, wars and tensions.
He is busy with theater to the core, because he is the dreamy man, who seeks with all his strength to dispel the dust of doubt and suspicion, to make an optimistic, positive, and cheerful person, capable of making life.
His Highness's initiatives in the theater are many, and his surprises in the theater as well. He is its first supporter at the level of the Arab world, and he is qualified for this task as he is the playwright, who bets on theater in terms of creativity, enlightening project, and eternal human art.
Since he is so, here he is today fulfilling his promise to theater people and theater students by opening the Sharjah Academy for Performing Arts. This edifice will open the gates to the "father of arts" for students in the Arab world, for those who love theater. In this regard, there is an important turning point manifested in (those who love theater) whom His Highness are introducing as a promising push as being the active force capable of creating knowledge and preaching beauty. Congratulations to the theater students at Sharjah Art Academy. As for you, His Highness, Ruler of Sharjah, a thousand "thanks" are not sufficient for you, O ruler, O noble thinker, O theater man, you have so long lived for the love of theater in all your words, actions and initiatives.
