Sultan asks those responsible for schoolbooks to correct the wrong information

Sultan: Indian Guide "Kojrati" dropped Vasco da Gama at Indian and not Ahmad ibn Mājid

His Highness Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council member and ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah, emphasized that the names of Sharjah, Umm al-Quwain, and Ras al-Khaimah were mentioned in Ptolemy maps and book, indicating that there is doubt as to whether these names were originally mentioned in the book, or were added after Arabization of the Ptolemy book in the Abbasid period.

He said that he carried out an investigation and studies with regard to Ptolemy maps, and found that Arabian Peninsula bears the shape of cross and crescent, which proves that the period was after the beginning of Islam.

With regard to Julphar, He said yesterday through a phone call with a live broadcast program on Sharjah Radio and Television: "In 1959 AD, I visited Isfahan and saw bridge composed of several bridges connecting Isfahan and Julphar, and saw also a large church with a golden dome. One of the Mughal tribes occupied that area in Iran, and the Christian Armenians escaped from Persia to that place called "Julphar", which is located now in Ras al-Khaimah and established by Armenians after escaping from the Mongols.

He added "There is an area in Ras al-Khaimah called "Sand Dunes", which is the old Julphar, located between Mu'ayrid and Almataf, which I mentioned in "Sard Alzat" book. In addition, Julphar is transferred from the name of Julphar in Isfahan on the river called "Zabend Erd", during the period before the fourteenth century.

He emphasized that Julphar is an Armenian name and not Arabic. He added: "In 1947 AD, while Sheikh Sultan bin Salem, may God have mercy upon him, was ruling Ras al-Khaimah, a severe storm broke that area and moved the surfaces of sand dunes, and thus the houses built under such dunes appeared , and the people rushed there to take gold and clothes".

He continued "During the tenure of Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, an Iraqi mission came to excavate in Mileiha and Julphar, extracted some monuments, determined their age, and emphasized that it did not find any monuments related to churches, but it found some of them related to mosques".

He added "When Ormuz people went to Geron, currently Ormuz, they conquered Julphar, Coast and Bahrain. Mohammed Aldermaki. The Ormuz people came from family of Mohammed Aldermaki, and their origin is Baloch people.

With regard to the relation between the Arabian navigator "Ahmad ibn Mājid" with Julphar, He emphasized that Ibn Majid arrived before the Portuguese people who came in the sixteenth century. He added that he mentioned in his writings that Ibn Majid did not drop the Portuguese people at India.

He said "I said during teaching subject of history at the university that Ibn Majid did not drop the Portuguese people at India, and that there is a mistake in some manuscripts talking about this matter and distorting this fact".

He also said that Indian Guide "Kojrati" dropped Vasco da Gama at Indian and not Ahmad ibn Mājid, and he asked those responsible for schoolbooks to correct this wrong information.
