His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has donated to build a mosque in Bensberg, South of Munich in Bavaria state of Germany.
The Bensberg mosque architecture is unique with its walls being made out of transparent glass, where all those outside can see all that happens inside.
As for the main entrance, it is composed of two wide columns signifying a gracious reception; on one of them the Fatihah Chapter and a verse from the Hujurat Chapter is inscribed, and on the other the meanings of those verses.
Also it has a metallic square shaped minaret that has inscribed with the words of the Azan (Call for Prayer), and it is lit up in full as the time of Maghreb prayer (sunset prayer) falls. And also The Holy Names of Allah are engraved on the ceiling and walls of the mosque from the inside.
The mosque is comprised of a large space for prayer, one for males and the other for females, and a library with standards similar to those of large public libraries, in addition to classrooms, two meeting rooms, administrative offices, and a kitchen.
Between its walls, the official delegations, are received, as well as organizational activists, and school and university students, individually and as groups, and they walk about freely inside the center halls, then they join a discussion group about Islam and Muslims, afterwards they leave the mosque holding positive impressions and thoughts about Islam, in the words of some of them.
