Sultan Al Qasimi inaugurates Sharjah Mosque in Tay Area

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated, Friday, the Sharjah Mosque located at the intersection of Mleiha Road and the Emirates Road in Tay area at AED300 million. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah was present at the inauguration ceremony.

In 2014, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah ordered the construction of the mosque, and oversaw the work stages from the very beginning.

His Highness performed Al Isha and Al Tarawih prayers along with a large number of sheikhs, senior officials and a host of worshippers from the different parts of the country.

After prayers, His Highness toured the various parts of the Mosque, which was built and designed according to Sheikh Sultan’s vision of faith and aesthetics based on the style of Islamic architecture, reflecting the original Islamic values.

Then His Highness watched a documentary about the various stages of constructing the mosque.

The mosque, which is the largest in the Emirate of Sharjah, sits on a total area of 2m square feet and can accommodate 25,500 worshippers. 

The Mosque has 6 gates and entrances, including 4 public entrances, two women’s entrances, one VIP and one for buses.

Two commemorative coins on the opening of Sharjah Mosque

The UAE’s Central Bank has issued two commemorative coins on the opening of Sharjah Mosque Friday evening, by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

Designed and implemented by the Sharjah Islamic Bank (SIB), the first is a 9999% gold coin weighing 60g, with 60 mm diameter, on which main side the holy verse “The mosques of Allah are only to be maintained by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day” appears.

The other is a 9999% silver coin weighing 60g, with 60 mm diameter on which the holy verse “The mosques of Allah are only to be maintained by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day and establish prayer and give zakah and do not fear except Allah, for it is expected that those will be of the [rightly] guided” appears.
